Your family photos should showcase each aspect of your family!
It’s that time of year again. Time to fill your gorgeous frames with updated family photos. It’s been a good year, your family has been through a lot of learning experiences, made some lasting memories, and maybe even had a new addition or two? Who knows what the year has held for you, except you. This is your chance to document the growth you and your family have experienced.
As you look around, you likely see your family photos filled with beaming smiles, maybe a few hugs, and probably at least one photo with an arm around someone’s shoulder. They are pleasant, and showcase your family nicely. However, there is a way that you can spice up this year’s family photos, as your family photos can showcase more than just your family members.
Here at Christina Wehbe Studios, as a Chicago portrait photographer, I believe that family photos capture the essence of what your family is truly like. That’s why I have put together a few tips on how to implement the idea that family photos are about more than just the family members. If you want radiant and incredible family photos for your frames, be sure to keep reading to how to create them:
- Your pets. There is no doubt that your pets are a part of your family. They greet when you arrive home, they snuggle you after a long day, and their furry faces are guaranteed to brighten any day. With everything they do, and all the love they give you, haven’t they earned a spot within your family photos? Of course! If they can brighten your home, you can bet that they will certainly brighten your family photos.
- Props that the family enjoys. As individuals, you certainly have your own passions. While one person lives and breathes sports, perhaps another one lives in a different reality through books. The range of activities that each person enjoys can be huge. However, there is likely at least one activity that brings you all together. You can showcase this activity within your family photos with props. If Jenga is your activity, incorporating a Jenga tower, or pieces can be a great way to highlight your family bonding. If you are a family that cooks together, perhaps staging your photoshoot within a kitchen or bringing the tools that you are usually tasked with can highlight your cooking hobbies. The opportunity for creativity is truly endless.
- Family friends. There are so many families that have a person, or people, that have pretty much become family. So much time was spent together that it became unspoken knowledge that your family basically adopted these special people. You can honor them, and the bond you have formed that brought you so close, by incorporating them into your family photos. After all, would anyone really protest to them being your family? They say that family doesn’t end with blood, meaning that they don’t have to share your DNA to be considered family. So, grab your best friend, your child’s absolute best friend, or whoever has become a part of the family, and smile for the camera.
Your family is unique, from your furry friends to those who have been adopted into your family. You can showcase your one of a kind family with unique portraits. Here at Christina Wehbe Studios, as a portrait photographer in Chicago, I believe that showcasing the people and things that make your family special, is a great way to make your family photos perfect.
