Props will add personalization to your photos

Professional photoshoots are wonderful for preserving your memories, capturing the entire family together, or even just indulging in self-portraits. Smiles, great hairstyles, and a dreamy backdrop, your photos are sure to be beautiful. However, if you like to spice things up and enjoy the extra treats in life, a basic photoshoot may not be what you are looking for. So, what’s missing?

Add meaning to your photos with props

  • Add meaningful props. These photos are not only able to capture your precious points in life, but they can tell your story. Your backdrop can be your favorite place, or a place where you have created the most wonderful memories. Almost 99% of our photoshoots occur within our studio. However, we can photograph within your home, and you are welcome to bring your props to our studio. Your attire can express your personal style. And, props can help to tell your story and showcase things that hold the most meaning to you. For example, if you are a talented musician, bring your instrument to use as a prop for your photos. After all, your photos should be all about you.

Choose unique props!

  • Trends are fashionable, but not unique. Trying to create photos that are unique, it’s not wise to incorporate a trendy prop that everyone else is featuring in their photos. If you see a photo of your loved one and they are featuring their class jersey, an umbrella, or any other prop, you can take a different route. No matter the items that you choose to use as props, it’s best to ensure that they are one of a kind, and relate best to you alone.

Be mindful of the size of your props

  • Does size really matter? The size of your props may not be your first thought, but as soon as you begin setting aside personal items, size becomes important. How will they look within the frame? Will they become invasive, taking away from the beauty of your picture? These are key things to consider before permanently choosing your props.

There is no doubt that your photos are important to you. It’s only right to create the perfect setting for your photography session, and include the best props. These are a few tips to help you choose the perfect props for your own photos. Here at Christina Wehbe Studios, as a Chicago portrait photographer, I believe that props present a wonderful opportunity to tell your story and express yourself.
