Pets are a part of our lives, and should certainly be captured throughout many wonderful photos!
Planning your photoshoot will be a wonderful experience! You will get to imagine all the creative themes, outfits, accessories, and settings that you can choose for yours, so that you can capture truly captivating photos. However, as you begin thinking about all the wonderful elements that you will be incorporating into your photoshoot, there is one very special detail that you may not have considered, but would still make a heartwarming addition to your pictures.
Their furry faces make every day a delight for you, they are your pets! You can decide to incorporate your loving pet into your photoshoot, rather than leaving them at home. If they add a sense of delight to your everyday life, then they will certainly make your photoshoot an incredible experience.
I believe that our pets are family too! That’s why, here at Christina Wehbe Studios, as a portrait photographer in Chicago, I have put together a few tips for incorporating your own pets into your Chicago photoshoot. To learn the best way to make your pet a joyous addition to your images, be sure to keep reading for some great insight:
- Get their attention with toys and treats. If there is one sure fire way to capture and hold your pet’s attention, what do you turn to? Most likely, it’s their toys and treats. Before you leave home, it’s important to remember their absolute favorite items. Also, could you imagine their excited and happy face whenever you pull out a tasty treat or ready yourself to throw their favorite toy? That excited look can be captured by the camera if you pack these special items for their big photoshoot.
- Bring someone who can help you. Managing your pet alone can be a daunting task, especially when trying to get that lovable grin you are hoping for. This is even more true when you incorporate more than one pet into your photoshoot. Bringing someone that both you and your pet trust is a great way make your photoshoot flow smoothly. More happy, familiar faces will certainly help your pet feel a little more at ease.
- Be sure to limit distractions. From lounging inside to playing fetch outside, your pet is likely very perceptive. From a bird to your neighbors walking their own dog down the street, your pet can be easily distracted. Everything is new and exciting for them. For your photoshoot, be sure to limit distractions so that you and your pet are saved from any unnecessary headaches, and your furry friend will be more prone to focus on the camera.
- Your pet loves you, be patient. There is no doubt that your pet loves you unconditionally. But, it’s important to remember that they are excited, out of their comfort zone, and have likely never stepped in front of the camera before. They may not understand what is going on. Patience is the sweetest thing you can express towards your lovable pet on such a busy and abnormal day for them.
You can use these tips to capture fabulous photos of your lovable pets. Here at Christina Wehbe Studios, as a Chicago portrait photographer, I believe that incorporating your loved ones into your photos will provide you with pictures that you will treasure forever, especially if that loved one is your pet.
