Choosing Lingerie that Fits for your Boudoir Shoot

Choosing Lingerie that Fits for your Boudoir Shoot

Choosing the right lingerie for your boudoir photo shoot is an important step in creating a comfortable and confident atmosphere. Here are some tips to help you choose lingerie that fits you perfectly:

  1. Measure yourself accurately: The most important step in choosing lingerie that fits is to have accurate measurements of your bust, waist, and hips. Use a measuring tape to get these numbers, and don’t be afraid to ask a friend or a professional to help you.
  2. Consider your body type: Different body types look best in different types of lingerie. For example, hourglass figures look great in babydolls, while pear-shaped figures may prefer a chemise or a teddy. It’s important to choose lingerie that flatters your body and makes you feel comfortable and confident.

3. Think about your comfort level: Boudoir photoshoots can be intimate and revealing, so it’s important to choose lingerie that makes you feel comfortable. If you’re not comfortable in something, it will show in your photos.

4. Don’t be afraid to try different sizes: Lingerie sizing can be inconsistent from brand to brand, so don’t be afraid to try on different sizes to find the perfect fit. It’s better to spend a little extra time finding the right size than to end up with lingerie that doesn’t fit properly.

5. Choose lingerie that fits your personal style: Boudoir photoshoots are a great opportunity to express your personality and style. Choose lingerie that reflects who you are and makes you feel sexy and confident.

By following these tips, you can choose lingerie that fits perfectly and helps you feel confident and comfortable during your boudoir photoshoot.

Choosing Outfits For Your Boudoir Experience

Choosing Outfits For Your Boudoir Experience

When choosing outfits for a boudoir photoshoot, consider what makes you feel comfortable and confident. It’s important to feel good about yourself during the photo shoot, as this will come through in the final images. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right outfits:

  1. Choose lingerie that fits well and makes you feel sexy. You can choose something that is classic and timeless or something that is more trendy and modern.

  2. Consider incorporating other items into your outfits, such as a robe, a pair of boots, or a piece of jewelry that has special meaning to you.

  3. Think about the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. Do you want a more romantic and intimate look, or something more edgy and sultry?

  4. Don’t be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone. A boudoir photoshoot is a great opportunity to experiment with different styles and looks.

  5. Bring a few different options with you to the photoshoot so that you have some choices. This way, you can see what works best in the setting and with the photographer’s direction.

Bra and Panty Set

Do you prefer something more traditional? Bra and panty sets are a staple in boudoir photoshoots. These sets are often the first choice for many women, especially because they’re often already in your wardrobe.

Push-up bras are great if you feel you need a little boost. But if you’ve got a smaller chest, you want to avoid these bras because you can create an unflattering gap. Bras with underwires are an excellent choice for any size and shape and can offer a little extra support. And if you’re looking for something to add a sexy touch, consider a lace or sheer bra. (Figure 22A)

Panties come in almost any cut and style imaginable. Whether you’re looking for boy shorts, thongs, or something a little lacy, you can find whatever style makes you feel beautiful.

I often prefer to have the full set including a garter belt and thigh-highs; however, most of the time, we’ll take your bra off and keep the panties and the garter belt on for some implied nude or topless photos.

If you want your images to look amazing, get a matching set. You can go with high-waisted panties and a long-line shirt if you prefer less skin exposed or a little thong if you’re feeling bold. We want to highlight and emphasize your assets, and these could be any body parts: your legs, your arms, your décolleté, your chest, your derriere, or your collarbone!

Chemises and Babydolls

Chemises and babydolls are both types of lingerie, although they differ in a few ways.

Both are dress-style items that are tight around the breasts and fan out over the belly. Sometimes they have a flirty short skirt. This is yet another wonderful choice for those shopping around for additional coverage.

Babydolls are only worn to the upper thigh or higher. Chemises can reach the mid-thigh (or lower), making them ideal for someone who isn’t ready to flaunt their assets. Remember, if you start to feel more at ease, you can always bare a little more thigh during the photo shoot.

Teddies and Bodysuits

Teddies, often known as bodysuits, are excellent lingerie pieces to have in your wardrobe. Whether you use them for a photograph or not, they’re wonderful for making you feel sexy even when you don’t want to reveal much flesh.

Teddies are more revealing than bodysuits. However, in the past few years, there has been a trend of wearing lacy bodysuits as tops; I love it! (Figure 19)

Teddies combine bras and underpants. They’re similar to one-piece swimsuits but sexier with their lace and sheerness. They may feature cutouts on the sides or back to show some extra skin, but they can still conceal your stomach if you don’t want to show it.

Negligee
Peignoir

Negligee or Peignoir

Negligee was a classic Hollywood seduction prop in old movies. It’s ideally a light dressing gown made of sheer or soft material. Nowadays, we’re lucky to find some timeless sexy pieces from that era (I have about 70 negligees, so good luck finding good ones!).

A peignoir is a long outer garment, usually a sheer or chiffon and lace robe. Sometimes it incorporates ruffles or feathers. A peignoir usually has a matching negligee to go with it.

Slips are mini sheer or satin dresses that used to be worn under dresses for modesty and to help the dress/skirt hang properly. These oldies are truly goodies in photographs.

Bustier

Bustiers and Corsets

These pieces are often confused with each other but are actually very different Corsets are designed to give your waist more definition, while bustiers are focused more on lifting and defining your breasts. Bustiers are often a little shorter, while corsets can add shape and make you look smaller or more flat-chested.

If femme fetale was an object, it would be a corset! If they’re purchased “authentically,” they restrict the waist with metal boning. They’re not comfy, but they make you look outstanding in images with a snatched waist. They’re most effective with “racier” photo themes.

Corsets with thin plastic boning are also available. These won’t give you the same shape as a true metal-boned corset, but they will almost have the same impact.

The majority of the time, bustiers don’t have boning. They have the shape of bodysuits but no bottoms, so you’ll wear them with your favorite pair of sexy underwear.

Both of these lingerie styles highlight the breasts while concealing the waist.

LBD

Clothing

LBD and “his shirt”. Little black dress! Isn’t it how some sexy nights start when you’re dating? It’s a part of your journey with your partner, so bring it with you, and we’ll get creative taking it off.

If you’re doing this photoshoot with your partner in mind, bring their shirt! Preferably a white or light blue shirt; they photograph great, especially if they’re oversized. Buttoned up or slipped off your shoulder; it’s sexy for your partner to use his shirt as a prop.

The power of an LBD (little black dress) or the morning-after outfit (his shirt) during your boudoir photoshoot. An oversized sweater or an item of his/her clothing would be a great addition to your photo shoot if you have a significant other. We can have a full boudoir shoot with one little black dress, and you don’t need to bring anything else!

Why Do I Love Being a Boudoir Photographer?

Why Do I Love Being a Boudoir Photographer?

 Why boudoir photography?

There are other genres, kids, weddings, seniors, newborns, pets, food, and many other genres of photography that you can do, so why did I choose to be particularly a boudoir photographer?

How it started for me

As soon as I started taking photos, boudoir photography quickly became a strong interest of mine. While I was attending university and exploring the world of art, I landed an apprenticeship at Playboy with Arny Freytag, the Playboy senior chief photographer. Arny had photographed Playboy’s centerfolds and editorials for about 40 years. When he asked me to join him in Studio West in LA to be his assistant, I was equally excited and terrified. I was a college kid with limited world experience. I had a year left to graduate with a B.F.A. in Photography, and I knew I wanted to photograph people. I had a passion for the Hollywood style of photography. I was fascinated by the 30s–50s era. The finesse, extravagant, and flamboyant feel of the photographs were enchanting to me. It is iconic and timeless. I wanted that glamour and elegance for the people I photographed.

My love for Hollywood portraits is what drove me to start taking pinup and Hollywood-style photographs, which in turn landed me that gig at Playboy and the beauty and editorial photos I learnt how to create turned into a timeless boudoir photography experience for me and my clients.

The Transformation

If you have children, you have most likely prioritized them since the day they were born. Being a busy mom might cause you to lose your individuality and, as a result, your confidence.

Even if you don’t have children, you can lose confidence. Women are expected to do everything. Work full-time, keep a pristine house, exercise, and participate in community activities. The expectations placed on childless adults are high, and not having children doesn’t guarantee a lot of free time.

Why is improving one’s body image and self-esteem so important? For starters, when you’re confident, you’re less likely to second-guess yourself, more likely to take risks, and more willing to pursue your true desires (Orth, & Robins, 2014; Pyszczynski, et al., 2004).

Ways boudoir sessions can help you embrace your body image and boost your self-esteem.

  • You will perceive yourself in an entirely different way

A day spent being pampered and showing off your best sides is more than just a fun way to spend the day; it has the potential to entirely transform your self-image and show you in a different light.

Through my lens, you will see how stunning you are, regardless of your insecurities or perceived flaws. I always try to capture images of what my clients like about themselves, but I also try to capture images of what they’re insecure about.

Out there, I can hear a collective gasp. Why would I do this? You may wonder. Because imagine how liberating it would be to see a dimple on your thigh or stretch marks on your tummy and love that photo of yourself.

We all have insecurities, but if you take a moment to acknowledge your own beauty and the strength of your body, you might start to appreciate yourself a little more.

Plus, you’ll have those stunning images to look back on when you’re not feeling your best to remind you of how beautiful and badass you truly are.

  • You will feel a sense of accomplishment.

Ladies, it’s not about the male gaze.

I picture the women in front of my lens from a woman’s perspective. It doesn’t have to be sexual in any way. Alternatively, if it is sexual for you, it’s because you enjoy expressing your sexuality. And that’s cool.

Owning your femininity is a powerful thing in terms of body image and self-esteem. It’s modern, and — let’s face it — it’s entertaining.

  • You get the chance to relax and have a good time

When was the last time you did anything completely for your own pleasure? Have you ever spent an afternoon alone, had a glass of wine, looked in the mirror, and appreciated your beauty? And you didn’t have to rush to school pickup, a zoom meeting, or worry about completing your never-ending to-do list.

Of course, a boudoir shoot won’t resolve all of your issues with body image and self-esteem. Only a great deal of personal work and therapy does. But I can say that showing a little bit of love and admiration for yourself is one of the best ways to generate the self-assurance you need to make today better than yesterday. So I’ll keep preaching, “Do it and do it for YOU!”

My Personal Experience

To fully understand how much my boudoir experiences meant to me, I believe you should first learn a little bit about me. I don’t hold anything back, for better or worse.

I’m just going to say it as it is: I’ve had low self-esteem most of my life. I earned it through decades of unconscious self-injury and years of surviving while unaware. After I worked on healing myself, I started to feel more at ease in my own body and decided to have my boudoir session done.

After all, I was creating magnificent images for my clients, and I was immensely touched by how it transformed them. Boudoir photography is such an intimate experience, and it touches the client and the photographer equally. I detected their fear, I noticed their confidence, I witnessed their evolution during the photo shoot, and that moment when they “got it” and genuinely started to own their femininity.

Every once in a while, I hear back from a client. They call or email to share how they feel about their photoshoots and their album or folio box. My clients have shared so much with me; we’ve cried together on my couch and on the phone. I’m touched by their vulnerability and the metamorphosis they experienced before, during, and after their boudoir photoshoot.

Top FAQ about Boudoir Photography

 Boudoir photography Frequently asked questions

The thought of a boudoir session can be intimidating. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kind of questions. So I wanted to share with you my list of the 12 most FAQs. The answers will give you some insight on. preparing for a boudoir session with me.

Do you share my images and post them on your website and social media?

Short answer: Absolutely NOT.

Long answer: Our #1 priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! it can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking. Sometimes, you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes those photos are specially for your spouse and not for anyone else’s eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos with the world, and it all depends on your personal preference. If there are photos that you would like us to share on our website and social media, you can let us know and we will send you a separate model release. We will never ask you to share your photos with us, we wait for you to ask us, and we will never ever share your photos without your written permission.

With that said, I want to mention that my best boudoir work is the art that isn’t published on my website, it’s on my client’s bedroom walls, it’s in my client’s black leather albums and it’s usually for their eyes only. When someone tells us they want to share their photos on our website and gives us a written permission we are truly ecstatic, because we will be showing off the creativity we experienced with you during your photoshoot. Some clients opt to share the non-revealing photos and keep the others for themselves and their family only, that’s cool, we love portraits and non revealing boudoir, we believe femininity is an attitude and exposing skin isn’t a prerequisite. .

What is your photography style?

My photography style is timeless romantic with an edgy playboy-ish twist. You can check my boudoir style and see if it fits yours Here

Do I have to wear lingerie?

You defiantly don’t to specifically wear lingerie, it depends on your personality. There are a bunch of outfit ideas other than lacy little things! Head over to this blog about choosing outfits to see some more ideas. Your outfit can range from an oversized shirt or sweater to a linen sheet or a blanket and everything in between. heck your outfit can be an ostrich feather. We’re here to play and create so please share your ideas with us.

Do you have payment plans?

We offer a few payment options. There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the date of your photos shoot. If you want more time to be able to pay off the shoot, you can schedule it a few months out, and pay it off in payments. Let me know if this is something you want to set up.

Do you photoshop my images?

I do edit your images. We enhance exposure, skin texture when needed, color balance and contrast. I do not however dit anything “out” that is permanent! I think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done and then edit out parts of yourself that makes you who you are. art of the process is loving and accepting yourself for who you are. Seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself you don’t like. If there are parts of yourself that you are leaning to love and you aren’t thrilled about at the time of your photoshoot, that’s Okay! We are skilled in corrective posing, and creative lighting to make you look your absolute best and bring your shine out. There are tricks to correct what you don’t like in makeup, using props, lighting, posing. We use photoshop, however, your photos are not for a magazine ad, they are a documentation of the sensual you and we will show you how beautiful and sensual you are without relaying on changing who you are.

If you want your photos to be sculpted and edited like a magazine ad, we can arrange for more editing time for an extra fee. The norm now is to document who you are without filters, our filters are our magnificent lighting and creative posing and we rarely rely on photoshop to change anyone’s image. Trust me you’ll look perfect straight out of camera. However, I understand we women have our own insecurities and I personally like certain parts of my body edited and my skin smoothed so no judgement here, we will do whatever makes you happy.

Where should I buy outfits

There are a few places to get outfits from and it depends on what you have in mind and on your style for this photoshoot. Here’s a long list to choose from with different style and sizing for your convenience: agent provocateur, Victorias secret, La Perla, Intimissimi, Shein, Adoreme.com Torrid. Busting Excuses

Busting Excuses

Why you deserve a boudoir experience

When we get nervous, we make excuses. We can make up any excuse not to take care of ourselves and not to love ourselves fully. We all have busy lives, we are too consumed with work, we have someone to drive somewhere that we don’t wanna be… Sometimes it’s more important to spend time with your partner… We make up excuses like “I’m not photogenic” or “I wanna lose weight first” or “I cannot afford it right now”. I am sharing this to show you all that no matter the excuse, you CAN do it! Let me show you that no matter how you think of yourself, you are worthy of your self love.

“I don’t have enough time for myself”

It’s also important to remember that if you aren’t taking care of yourself emotionally, if you’re not blossoming and blooming, you’re not going to be able to handle taking care of anyone else. Which makes sense but it’s much harder said than done. Sometimes I am the WORST at attending to my own needs, emotional needs, sometimes I don’t even stretch for a full week, we all know how that end up feeling! I always give myself mental health breaks when I feel I need to stop and take a break, otherwise, I’ll forget what my life is about, I’ll forget my purpose and my calling and be consumed with life’s rat race, and I don’t want that! I did it in my twenties, now in my thirties I’m done with that and I’m a new me who takes care of herself physically, mentally and emotionally.

The reason I’m sharing this with you guys is sometimes I need someone to look me in the face and say, “SLOW DOWN, give yourself a break, stop moving, breath for a minutes”.

At a boudoir shoot you are able to breath, and able to love yourself for a few hours. Think of all the energy you’ll save on a daily basis if you stop comparing yourself to others, or stop worrying about what other people will think of how you look. You get to see where your beauty really comes from and this lifts such a huge emotional weight and prepares us for a healthy mentality.

You need to take time for yourself, why not spend it having an amazing time and getting glammed up for once?

“I’m not where I want to be physically / I don’t fit the media’s idea of a good enough size”

Did you know that the body type portrayed in advertising as the ideal is possessed naturally by only 5% of females? ONLY FIVE PERCENT.

I will say this over and over again (and sorry, not sorry if you’ve heard me say it before), but WHY do you have to be a certain size to LOVE yourself? WHY do you have to fit a stranger’s messed up idea of a perfect body to love your own body? WHY are you comparing your size to everyone else, when no two women are the same?

In my opinion it’s great and essential to have goals and want to get healthy, but does that mean you hae to hate your body to do those things? Absolutely NOT! You should love yourself every step of the way. Be porud of where you are so that you can be proud of where you’re going. Have a boudoir shoot to celebrate where you are now and have one when you lose those 15 Lbs to celebrate how far you’ve come!

How many times in your life are you going to be at this age? Looking the way you do now? I don’t believe in waiting for boudoir photos. If you happen to look better in a year, then good for you, have another session done. Within 12 months of your first session I’m giving you a waived session fee just because you feel better about yourself and you want to create more art of yourself.

“I don’t feel sexy or sensual anymore so a boudoir shoot must not be for me”

Wrong.

This excuse is actually the EXACT reason you SHOULD  do a boudoir shoot.

Often times we lose touch with our femininity or sensuality when life gets crazy because of health/kids/work etc… there’s no shortage for excuses we give to avoid loving ourselves again is to have a boudoir shoot done to bring that spark back into us. I can show you that you have that sparkle inside you. You hide it well but not from me, and it might even ignite a spark between you and your partner as well!

Another thing to remember is that you don’t have to wear super sexy clothing/ lingerie. If you feel like this doesn’t show your personality, then there are so many other outfit ideas for you. I will gladly talk to you about them or you can check out our blog on finding outfits for your photoshoot.

“A boudoir shoot is an investment and I don’t have all the. money right now”.

Yes, a boudoir shoot is an investment. It is an investment in yourself. You are investing in your well-being and confidence as well. We do offer payment plans!  In order to book your shoot, there is a booking retainer, and after that we can set up your payment plan for the remaining so that it might be easier to book a shoot! if you have any questions about your payment plans, shoot us an email while setting up your shoot.

Caitlin’s Boudoir Experience

Caitlin’s Boudoir Experience

Caitlin’s Boudoir Experience Shared by Caitlin Herself

When I asked Caitlin to talk about her boudoir shoot experience and share it with us in our group and with our new clients, she was enthusiastic and said “Yes”. When we filmed her testimonials, I was brought to tears a couple of times. She is a strong confident woman and we wanted to have all the women we meet feel how good and beautiful she felt about herself. Her multi-genre photoshoot has been one of the most memorable photoshoots at the studio. Here’s her experience described by Caitlin herself in the testimonial video. Note that we didn’t showcase many many of her gorgeous revealing images.

by the time I walked out of the door, I felt incredible, every woman deserves to feel this way.

I decided to be photographed by Christina Wehbe studios for professional headshots. I just started a business, I needed professional headshots, and then the boudoir shoot was my 30th birthday gift to myself.

During the photoshoot, I was just excited, and Christina would show me some of the photos, and it just kind of reenergized me because they were so incredible and so beautiful.

I was just so excited to do the next pose or try on the next piece of lingerie. Christina showed me one of the shots and immediately I was like, yeah, I’ll pull this together, we need more of these!

it’s just the most stunning light, it makes everybody looks beautiful.

I think boudoir photography helps women own their femininity because it’s a personal experience, and I think also you know Christina allows for each client to really have a lot of say in their shoot, and what lingerie they are wearing, how their hair and makeup are done. so it’s really the client’s control of the shoot and then Christina directs it to make it beautiful.

Christina helped me pick out one of my favorite boudoir photos, and then she transformed it to look like it was hand-painted. and it is stunningly beautiful and that’s the one photo that I keep up on my wall to remind myself to own my femininity and own my confidence.

When I saw the photos for the first time and I got to take them out and put them on the wall, it was a really special moment, they were absolutely stunning, so I couldn’t be more happy with what Christina produced.

I wanted the experience, it’s a very glamorous process, and I’ve always wanted to do a boudoir shoot.

you know I’m kind of in the prime of my life and I want it… captured…

You know it’s empowering, it makes me feel confident, and it kind of gives me the reminder that I am this CEO and I am beautiful and confident and strong.

Yes, I use the photos as a daily reminder that I can do this…

Caitlin.
